Awhile back, we asked what “not-so-smart” things people did to their first cars.

We got some pretty interesting and hilarious answers.

Many people made mistakes when performing maintenance or repairs on their first cars, some got in fender benders, and one contributor even drove his car into a lake.

1. “I ran into a cow.” – P.J.

 2. “I went to turn the blinker on and instead switched into reverse” – R.O.

3. “I steam cleaned my engine without covering up the electronics. Then I was stranded as I could not get my car started.” – B.S.

 4. “I changed the plugs and wires, only to put them on in the wrong order.” – A.E.

 5. “I was backing out of the driveway and backed right into my Dad’s car.” – C.H.

 7. “I piled 16 people into it and took them out for pizza, during an ice storm...while in college. Car was a 1976 Lincoln Town Car...it had plenty of room but 16 was full to the gills.” – S.S.
