Cars come and go in our lives. But, if you’ve ever given or received a car as a gift, you tend to remember the vehicle and surrounding circumstances. More often than not cars are gifted between family members. Extra car karma goes out to those who find a friend or acquaintance in need of transportation to gift that extra vehicle.
We were wondering if any of our friends on Facebook had ever given a car to someone, or received a car as a gift. Here are their responses:
- My sister got a new job and moved on to a new Subaru Impreza. She gave me her 1985 Mitsubishi Cordia-L. Two-toned white and maroon. 5 speed. Drove her to over 200,000 miles and moved on to an 86' Corolla AE86. Both of those cars and the 2-door hatch concepts always brings a smile to my face. - BS
- Yes. Received a 1974 Volkswagen Super Beetle! - GG
- Yes. I came home on my 17th birthday to a 1991 Buick Regal GS with a large red bow on it. Within the following week, my father had decided he would rather have that vehicle for himself because it got better gas mileage than his current Jeep. So he retracted said gift, and I ended up with a 1985 Oldsmobile ninety eight (what a beaut!) Approximately a year later, my father then made me buy the Buick that was my former "birthday" gift. It was just a delightful experience!! - JA
- Yes, a friend's father gave me a 2002 VW jetta in a time of need. - AC
- I gave my sister my 1st car when she graduated high school. I don't remember the year but it was a yellow Chevy Impala. It had a hole in the gas tank so she could only fill it halfway but the car ran like a top! - PJ
- Yes! A 2002, salsa red, Toyota Camry. I loved that car! - CH
- Knew a guy in need, poor guy no money to go see family in Philadelphia. Gave him an extra car I had for a cup of coffee. I guess I didn't give to him - I sold for $1 cup of Joe! He replaced the brakes - did some light engine work - drove it to and from Philadelphia PA and when he got back he sold it for $400 - best car Karma ever had! - JW
- Gave a 1986 black Pontiac Fiero. - BM
Regardless of the car’s condition, the gift of transportation can change a person’s life. Cheers to those of you that have ever gifted a car to someone!
