Concept cars have always been a fun way for car companies to try out new designs and drum excitement. In 2016, we saw quite a few concepts roll across the stage but a few really caught our eyes. Enjoy our list of our Fab 5 in no particular order!
1. Acura Precision
Acura's California Design Studio was responsible for the look of the Precision sedan. This wide, low sedan has a sharper grill with vents below the sharply sculpted taillights, lending balance to the appearance of the rear fascia and serve to create a muscular appearance.
2. Volkswagen I.D.
According to Volkswagen, the all-electric I.D. concept that rolled out at the 2016 Paris Motor Show could mean big things for the future. For instance, how about 250-375 miles of range, to begin with? Be prepared for the I.D. to roll into dealerships around 2020.
3. Kia Telluride
Even though it sits on a Sorento chassis, the Kia Telluride happens to be 9.5 inches longer and 4.4 inches taller. The interior is geared towards supreme comfort, with a middle row of seats with footrests that'll recline almost completely flat!
4. Mercedes-Benz Generation EQ
With a range of 310 miles on a full charge and a sprint to over 60 mph in less than 5 seconds, the Mercedes-Benz EQ concept could be quite a game changer. This concept produces up to 402 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque, as two electric motors on the front and rear axles power the crossover.
5. Mercedes-Benz Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6
An EV that is more than 18.5 feet long… needless to say, it caught our attention. The drive system puts out 738 hp from an underfloor battery and four electric motors. Mercedes says the all-wheel-drive coupe will hit 62 mph in less than 4 seconds, has a top speed electronically governed at 155 mph and should be good for more than a 200-mile range.
