The 14 Greatest Movie Chase Scenes

Posted by Poquet Auto on Oct 8, 2015 11:00:21 AM

Skidding tires, smoking engines, and fearless drivers. Movie car chases are the perfect adrenaline fix. Whether it’s Steve McQueen in “Bullitt” or Tom Cruise in the “Mission: Impossible” franchise, moviegoers can’t seem to get enough of watching cars get reduced to rubble.

We asked our facebook followers to name their favorite blockbuster chase scenes. Here are their top 14.

  1. Chase scene from “It’s a Mad Mad Mad World” (1963)!!!! Pretty much the whole movie! - JH
  2. Steven Spielberg's 1971 TV movie "Duel" with Dennis Weaver as a traveling salesman pursued by a tanker truck in the southern California desert. - MS
  3. Steve McQueen in “Bullitt” (1968). - LC, LE, & LGP
  4. “Mission: Impossible -- Rogue Nation” (2015). Crushed a BMW coupe - very intense!! - KL
  5. “The French Connection” (1971). Probably the most dangerous and life-threatening chase scene ever because no one - except those involved in making the movie - knew about it until after it had been filmed! They basically slapped a siren on top of a car and sped through the busy streets of NYC! It was filmed in mostly real traffic that involved real drivers and pedestrians who had no idea what was happening! They ran red lights and the many near collisions were real! - CH
  6. All the chase scenes in “Mad Max” movies. - SE
  7. Thelma and Louise. - JE
  8. Well, for the all-out number of vehicles involved, flying cars, and crashes, nothing beats the “Blues Brothers” (1980) finale: "We're on a mission from God." - WJA & RL
  9. The MINI Cooper scene in “The Bourne Identity” (2002). Love it when they drive down the stairs. - DD
  10. In honor of Dean Jones, Herbie “The Love Bug” (1968). - MT
  11. “Ronin” (1998), the Audi S8 with Deniro in the back seat. - MM
  12. “Gone in Sixty Seconds” (2000). - GK
  13. “Smokey and the Bandit” (1977). 'Nuff said. - JS
  14. Bruce Willis driving the taxi in The “Fifth Element” (1997). - SM

Needless to say, please don’t try any of these driving stunts yourself. Leave them to the Hollywood professionals!
