It’s sad but true that fall is over. Now we’re looking forward to the long Minnesota winter -- with its blizzards, ice, and dangerous roads. How does your vehicle handle the harsh conditions?
We asked our facebook followers what vehicles they think would be ideal for winter driving. Real or fictitious, here are the top ten answers they gave.
- I'm going to have to go with the Christopher Nolan Batmobile because...versatility. - JP & MG
- Horse-drawn sled. - CCB
- My trusty Subaru that I bought from Poquet! Last year I drove by St. Cloud just as a huge ice storm hit. I had to get to Paynesville, and the Subaru gave me confidence as I drove, passing many trucks and semis in the ditch! - JKK
- A MN Department of Transportation snow plow! - SO & NJ
- 1943 Volkswagen/KDF Type 166 Schwimmwagen. - CP
- A Ford Raptor with tracks (my dream vehicle). - BB & ATO
- George Jetson's "car" (the flying-saucer kind) from the series “The Jetsons.” - DJ
- Lexus LS430 with studded winter tires, converted to AWD like some LS460s. - MCW
- Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. It helps to be able to fly. - WBB
- An AT-AT Walker from “The Empire Strikes Back” (1980). - MDP
If only Batmobiles were for sale at your average car lot! I guess we’ll have to settle for all-wheel drive and snow tires to manage driving on Minnesota’s snowy roads. When is it finally spring again?
