Rules of road are typically based on safety. Nevertheless, as times and technology change, effectively changing the logic for the initial rule, many laws are often left on the books to rot and end up on lists like these for a good chuckle.
Here in Minnesota, we are not immune to strange and unusual driving laws. Check out these two doozies:
- It is against the law to drive a red car on Lake Street in Minneapolis. Really, it is. We’re not entirely sure why.
- In Minnetonka, it is illegal to drive a truck with mud on the tires. Well, not exactly. If the mud stays on your tires, you’re fine. However, should mud or any debris be left on the roadway, you are considered a public nuisance and subject to a fine.
